About Original Iron Off-Road
About Our Founder
Jesse Coombs is a former medical and high tech executive, and a self-made real estate entrepreneur who resides in Corvallis Oregon with his beautiful wife and six amazing children.
Jesse has always had a passion for competition and outdoor adventure. In 1998, he became a finalist in the Camel Trophy US team trials. The now legendary Camel Trophy was an international adventure race where competitors used Land Rover vehicles to traverse the most grueling terrain in some of the world's least hospitable places. During the US trials in Grand Junction, Colorado, Jesse achieved the highest score ever recorded, demonstrating exceptional driving, survival, and endurance skills which positioned him as a top contender for the unforgiving main competition.
Jesse also has a number of achievements as a professional kayaker, marked by a series of pioneering first descents in challenging rivers across Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia, earning him the title of National Geographic Adventure Hero in 2007. Jesse has not only navigated rivers round the world but also made notable descents over several 100-foot waterfalls, including Oregon's Metlako Falls and Abiqua Falls — the latter marking a historic first.
Jesse's outdoor adventures have been chronicled on TV, on the Web, and in print. He's made appearances on Good Morning America and has been featured in top publications including Men's Health, Outside Magazine, and Land Rover Monthly, Classic Land Rover, and Rovers North. You can also catch Jesse and his pals on YouTube and Instagram tackling some of North America's toughest off-road trails in a variety of vintage Land Rover and Jeep vehicles.
Jesse’s passion is for sharing his love of the outdoors and celebrating the original iron of classic 4x4s. We hope to see you on the trails!
